A Technical Explanation
Of
Multi-Primer's Unique
Features
Senseal’s Multi-Primer 'Deep Seals' any wood by displacing
or sealing in the liquid content of the wood (water, oils
and sap). This is achieved through features entirely unique
to Senseal products, and Multi-Primer in particular:
DEEP PENETRATION – Multi-Primer contains
a blend of precisely mixed organic solvents and
a high alcohol content making it a unique epoxy resin with
the ability to dissolve wood oils, saps and even the water
content of the fungus that cause dry rot. The deep penetration
by Multi-Primer along the natural moisture veins of all
types of wood brings excess liquid to the surface and the
evaporation of moisture that could cause rot or paint deterioration.
DEEP SEALING – Multi-Primer's core ingredients
are derived from natural wood resins, rather than
petrochemical products used in other epoxy resins. Multi-Primer
penetrates the wood cellulose fibre structure of timber,
which fungi and bacteria like to destroy. This enables cellular
level bonding creating a super strong fully cured resin
with similar flexibility to timber, allowing the timber
to breathe while preventing water retention that causes
wood to dramatically expand and rot as it dries out. The
timber is now permanently protected from wet and dry rot!
STABILISES WOOD – An amazing outcome of Multi-Primer’s
‘Deep Sealing’ is that the excessive expansion
or contraction of wood due to weather conditions and exposure
to water is eliminated. This means Multi-Primer dramatically
reduces any warping, cupping, gapping, cracking, joint and
coating failure that lead to rot, and the need to replace
timber or whole structures.
COATING ADHESION – Multi-Primer 'Deep Glues'
any paint, varnish or stain by chemically bonding with it
as it is applied, significantly increasing its life span.
This is achieved by the impregnation of Multi-Primer into
the timber's cellulose fibres. While Multi-Primer cures
within the wood, a very thin film of wood-derived epoxy
glue remains on the entire surface and continues to cure
after a topcoat is applied. The curing process is designed
specifically so that Multi-Primer chemically bonds with
the topcoat, effectively gluing the coating into the
wood. Timber not treated with Multi-Primer will tend to
draw out the water content of coatings, leaving brittle
remains that easily deteriorate. Other primers suffer the
same problem, breaking the primers seal, and leading to
coating deterioration.
CLEAR FINISH – Multi-Primer enhances the
natural colour of wood because as it bonds with wood
at a cellular level, the natural features of the wood, like
its colour, are reflected in the cured resin and fixed in
place throughout the Multi-Primer treated timber. Multi-Primer’s
subtle clear amber tone has the effect of enriching the
timber’s natural colour and giving Multi-Primed wood
a long lasting ‘as new’ look and feel. Alternatively
when one wants to maintain a rustic weathered appearance,
Multi-Primer applied to old weathered wood will preserve
this ‘look.’ To ensure Multi-Primer keeps protecting
your wood a UV blocking stain or varnish is required outdoors.
SHELF LIFE – If Multi-Primer is stored unopened,
above freezing, and is sealed correctly it should virtually
last forever! Once opened, however, if sealed correctly
between uses, it will easily last a year.
